Chetan Bhagat, from nowhere, made a splendid entry into the fiction world, just like Buddha cut through the rigorous hindu traditions. He claims to write semi-auto biographical novels but all his works look very realistic though. A reader can see himself in each of his novels either as Alok, Govind or Krish. A definite formula used by him in all his novels is evident but still each one is very impressive, refreshing and he is not denying that fact either. Love, sentiment and satire are the certainties in his novels with equal priorities given to each one of them.
His stories pushes one, after reading every chapter, to rewind mode and make him think that, ah! I too came across this incident before but the critical dfference is that it erases the past painful feelings of those incidents and injects pleasant feeling as a tag to it.Though there are several nail biting moments in his stories, none of them really makes one feel tense about it. One can only imagine a solution for it or rather wait patiently for the hero to unwind it. He creates such positive vibrations through his narration and all those vulgar words ( Sequences - prenuptial sex) used by him, either to express shock or love doesn't appear to be rough-cut at all, particularly, when it comes from our well-disposed Chetan.
As noted just now, he transmutes positive energies into the reader of his books through his stories and also by his characters attitude. He teaches the readers to handle those hurting situations in a humourous and polite manners. He shares from his life, certain ways to achieve life's goals, without disrupting anybody's feelings. With Alok, Govind and Krish characters framed from himself in his stories, he shows to the world how to cut through the day-to-day issues, particularly those middle class ones.
His novels can be read for various reasons; for greening oneself, to feel nostalgic, to get positive vibrations, to laugh out loudly, to learn Vocabulary, for Quotable quotes, to sense the satires in it, to find and set a vision etc., He makes a reader think calculatingly, just like his protagonists, when an event or something equivalent to managerial job is to be directed by the reader.Onething, Chetan guarantees to his readers is that the ending of his novels won't definitely let you feel down in the mouth. You would just feel happy about the end and go about doing your works as usual, may be in a joyous manner from then on! Or concisely, it's just 250 Pages of pure fun rendering positive ways of achieving the tricky deals!.
One other thing,I forgot to point out is that, all his protoganists are foodies, So on the way of reading his works, one can get familiar with certain traditional restaurants and their best foods in the localities, he takes one along. Like a friend, his protoganist give fine tips, rather lavishly, on setting up a winning dinner with one's desiring family crew or to fructify one's yet to confirmed relationship with your love by taking her to wonderful dating spots!
His novels are also an eye opener for elder generations, if at all they want to listen to him, to understand the younger generations and their present priorities and imaginations. I think, Chetan is the best dude around to put it nicely and at the same time candidly to them. It is like saying, Chetan found a way to accomplish those sensitive things in life with the permissions of the much respected elder generations. In other words, chetan declares ( going by his recent novel 2-states ) that elders still can play a role in uniting INDIA by approving the LOVE marriage ( inter-caste, interstate or what ever) of their dearest ones! Can elders buy this thought?
